A Visit To the Desert
Looking back, a trip to the desert with good company is always a recipe for good times. In this case, this trip was strictly for relaxation...although some rock climbing, rappelling, whisky drinking, karaoke, and dancing did get involved. It was cold during evening and morning hours but warm through mid day, however it was windy. A little more on the photo above - no matter how late I get to sleep, when camping, I always enjoy being the first awake and out to catch the sunrise. The zip of the tent, the sound of the propane flame heating water for fresh coffee, your boots crunching in the dirt as you're trying to be quiet while walking around camp, lighting tinder beneath large wood blocks to get a morning fire going, frozen nose and ears, the sight of your breath in the cool morning air - everything was perfect. I grabbed my camera as the sun just began to burn the sky, scrambled up a mound of rocks and spires (coffee in one hand, camera in the other - awkwardly), sat down - click. Success.
